H.B. Fuller Answers the Call for Super Soft Nonwovens in the Hygiene Market

7/19/17

While it’s no surprise that super soft nonwoven material in baby diapers is increasingly the material of choice given the enhanced feeling on the baby’s skin, what most consumers do not realize is just how challenging the bonding properties of these substrates can be.

Thanks to H.B. Fuller, however, customer demand continues to be met—and expectations exceeded. Through the introduction of new tailor-made products, customers no longer are required to choose between comfort and choice.

Global Diaper Market Projected Growth

According to a recent report published by Zion Market Research, “the global baby diapers market accounted for around USD 46.50 Billion in 2016 and is expected to reach approximately USD 67.46 Billion by 2022, growing at a CAGR of around 6.4% between 2017 and 2022.”

Given the projected growth rate, coupled with the fact that consumers are increasingly demanding better performing hygiene products (including low odor, better comfort, and overall softness), it’s no wonder that the growing trend in baby care products is focused on value and variety. Diaper manufacturers are designing new soft feel diapers and adapting their existing offerings through either raw material changes or processing enhancements.

Full-Care® 5188 and 8008

With over 40 years of technology leadership in the global hygiene market, H.B. Fuller is addressing the “soft” trend with two innovative solutions: Full-Care® 5188 and Full-Care® 8008.

Full-Care® 5188 is a high performance constructive adhesive, while Full-Care® 8008 is a premium performance elastic attachment adhesive. Both adhesives were designed specifically to work with more difficult substrates, like super soft nonwovens, and furthermore have low odor and light color. The two adhesive solutions offer customers a seamless balance of super softness and excellent bonding properties. In terms of elasticity, Full-Care® 8008 provides best in class creep resistance.
