Recognizing Employee Volunteers
Since 1978, H.B. Fuller has recognized employees who are committed to volunteering in their communities with our Outstanding Volunteer Award. In 2016, Ron Davies was selected as winner of this award recognizing an employee volunteer for his dedication to serving youth in his community.
Ron exemplifies H.B. Fuller’s support and commitment to community. He volunteers with multiple organizations, dedicating a significant amount of time to giving back to others. Ron has been a leader in Minnesota’s youth robotics community, volunteering with the Eagan High School robotics team and with High Tech Kids, a nonprofit that promotes STEM education through robotics. Ron started and grew the robotics program at Eagan High School, which is now the largest of its kind in Minnesota, and where he still serves as a lead mentor. In addition, Ron supports High Tech Kids by volunteering at robotics tournaments and personally coordinating one regional competition each year. High Tech Kids has so appreciated Ron’s work that he will soon be joining their board of directors. Ron has also been an active volunteer with MN Hands & Voices, a program supporting families of deaf or hard of hearing children. Within H.B. Fuller, Ron is a member of the Willow Lake Community Affairs Council, helping to organize volunteer opportunities for other employees and connect our headquarters office with the local community.
Ron shared, “I first got involved in robotics and volunteering to support deaf or hard of hearing families because of my kids. Even after they have grown up and moved on to other activities, I’ve found that I love volunteering and have continued to support students and families in my community. Through volunteering, you feel like you have actually had an influence on the lives of others.”
Kirsten Stone, assistant general counsel and chief intellectual property counsel, has served as a High Tech Kids board member and has seen the impact of Ron’s community commitment and volunteer service. “Ron works tirelessly to help sustain the amazing growth that Minnesota’s robotics program has seen recently, and he is now working with the Community Affairs Council to encourage other employee volunteers. I am always very proud to be able to say I work with Ron, and H.B. Fuller can be very proud of the positive image he portrays for our company in our community.”
In honor of Ron’s commitment to service, H.B. Fuller has donated $1,000 to support High Tech Kids and Eagan Robotics. Ron is not alone among H.B. Fuller employees in choosing to make a difference in his community, and we are proud of the positive impacts made by all of our employee volunteers.
